Iranian delegation thanks Pakistan for attending late Supreme Leader’s funeral

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghaddam on Sunday expressed his deep thanks to the people and government of Pakistan for attending the burial rites of the murdered Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“On behalf of the Iranian government and people, I thank Pakistan for attending the funeral of our martyred leader,” the Iranian ambassador said in a statement posted on X. “I also want to thank the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Field Marshall and the Deputy Prime Minister.

He also expressed his gratitude to Senate chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and other senior officials, religious leaders, political leaders, and cultural icons for participating in the funeral service.

“The historic ceremony was attended at the highest level representing Pakistan and this participation was a reflection of the longstanding friendship and mutual respect between the two brotherly countries,” the ambassador said. He said the gesture was a reminder of historic links and common ideals between Iran and Pakistan who had stood by each other in difficult times and moments of rejoicing.
