Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called on all parties to show moderation and engage in discussion as tensions rise in the region during a telephonic talk with the Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.

The two leaders addressed the evolving regional situation and exchanged opinions on matters relating to peace and stability, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said.

During the call, Dar underlined the importance of all sides to choose the road of de-escalation and restraint in accordance with the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (Islamabad MoU) agreed in June 2026.

He stressed that communication and diplomacy were the only feasible way to resolve problems and bring about enduring peace and stability in the region.

“The deputy prime minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to continue to play a constructive role in furthering regional peace and diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions.

The two foreign ministers agreed to keep in regular communication and continue conversations on regional developments, the Foreign Office said.

The discussion comes as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent a further escalation following increasing military tensions between Iran and the United States.
