ISPR says 21 India-backed militants killed by security troops in KP operations

Twenty-one militants were killed in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated on Sunday.

The military’s propaganda wing said that 10 militants were killed in a successful operation in North Waziristan on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The operation came after an earlier confrontation on the nite of August 31 and September 1, in which 15 militants attempting to penetrate Pakistan were killed.

The ISPR claimed the latest operation took to 25 the number of militants killed trying to cross into Pakistan.

“The security forces located movement of an additional group of terrorists in North Waziristan and effectively engaged them in another encounter during the last 24 hours killing seven terrorists,” the ISPR said.

Four other militants were killed in two separate skirmishes in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan, the military’s media wing claimed.

ISPR said the incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border reiterated Pakistan’s stance that the Afghan Taliban administration had failed to stop militant organizations from using Afghan soil for cross-border terrorism.

It also said the Afghan Taliban government had also failed to provide adequate border control and meet their international duties to combat terrorism.

Pakistan’s security forces remain completely committed to safeguarding the country’s borders and clearance operations are under way to eradicate militants operating with Indian help in the area, the ISPR said.

The ISPR said that the security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue the counter-terrorism operation under the framework of Azm-e-Istehkam approved by the Central Apex Committee of the National Action Plan.

It added the campaign will continue with full force to remove terrorism backed and supported by foreign groups from the country.
