Italy lauds Pakistan’s diplomacy in helping broker US-Iran deal

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani had telephonic chat on Monday.

The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the Italian side, particularly PM Giorgia Meloni’s appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts of mediation that led to the settlement achieved between the United States and Iran.

The two parties emphasised the need to execute the understandings reached and to continue international efforts to bring permanent peace and stability to the region, including Lebanon.

They said the opening of the Strait of Hormuz is a good sign for the world’s energy flows, trade and the wider international economy.

Both sides appreciated the excellent trajectory of Pakistan-Italy relations and applauded the recent signing of the agreement between the two countries on the removal of visas for diplomatic passport holders.

Pakistan and Italy have reaffirmed resolve to further develop co-operation in all fields of mutual interest and agreed to stay in touch.
