Junaid Akbar wants Sohail Afridi to remain CM till PTI founder Imran Khan wishes

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Junaid Akbar claimed that Sohail Afridi will remain as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unless PTI founder Imran Khan chooses differently.

, Akbar said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and PTI workers had rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

He stated the opposition can hold as many press conferences as they want, but that the public was not interested in viewing them. The government has deployed a significant number of containers and police personnel and it shows that the administration was concerned about the plans of PTI, Akbar said.

Akbar stated that “preparation” did not signify anything unique for PTI and party workers could mobilize within 24 hours. He stated he had no information of any back-channel conversations but added that political figures were in communication with one another all the time.

The PTI leader added that the party has used all available forums and had always maintained that communication should be sought to find a way out.

“Country first, politics later,” he remarked.

Talking about former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Akbar said he had no good contacts with Gandapur and he did not think it was fit to remark on Gandapur’s statement.

Akbar also downplayed what he termed as “X, Y, Z” and stated that while various people might have different hopes, the ultimate choice rests with Imran Khan and the entire party will accept it.

Akbar repeated his stance on the province government and stated Sohail Afridi would continue as chief minister unless Imran Khan tells him otherwise.

He said Afridi was in touch with PTI workers and the general public.

Politics was full with back-door contacts, Akbar claimed. He stated that the PTI had constituted a four-member team for negotiations and the party believes in negotiations.

“PTI has no plan to ‘conquer Islamabad’,” he further stressed.
