Karachi: The heatwave is expected to last until June 1.

Pakistan’s coastal cities, including Karachi, may experience a heatwave starting today, May 29. Temperatures are expected to rise above 40 Celsius.

The weather is expected to get better by June 3–4.

Officials from the PMD’s Heatwave Early Warning Center said in an alert that “heatwave conditions are likely to grip Karachi division, Thatta, Badin, and Sujawal districts from Wednesday (today) until June 1st, with daytime maximum temperatures rising to 40–42 Celsius in Karachi and 42–44 C in Thatta, Badin, and Sujawal districts.”

It’s expected to stay hot and humid for another 24 hours.

Up to 43 Celsius could be the highest temperature on Thursday (tomorrow).

It’s going to be very hot and dry in most of Sindh until June 1. The highest temperatures during the day will be 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal in Dadu, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, and Shaheed Benazirabad, and 5 to 7 degrees above normal in Sanghar, Hyderabad, Mitiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Tharparker, and Badin.

Jacobabad had the hottest temperature, measuring 52 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Dadu, Larkana, and Mohenjo-daro all had extreme temperatures of 51 C, 50 C in Sukkur, Nawabshah, and Khairpur, 49 C in Rohri and Padidan, 48 C in Sakrand, 46 C in Hyderabad, and 45 C in Mithi.
