Karachi: Thief murdered in shootout with citizen: cops
The police said the exchange of fire had place at Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Chowk, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Scheme 33, Karachi. Three other suspects, who arrived in a car, escaped during the firefight.
Investigators believe the same group that took the resident’s goats in a previous incident. Police say the criminals returned in the early morning hours in what appeared to be another attempt to take goats.
The owner of the goats chased one of the accused and the accomplices allegedly fired on him. The resident shot back, killing one of the criminals, authorities said.
Police also verified that the suspects’ vehicle was shot and stated there is grounds to believe one of the fleeing suspects may have been hurt as well. An inquiry into the incident is ongoing.
At least two individuals were killed and numerous more injured in different gunfire incidents in Karachi earlier.
Police said security guard fires at alleged mugger near Pakistan Steel Mills Port Qasim Authority. The culprit was slain and his accomplice was injured. Police said that they had launched an investigation into the event.
A man, resident of Khanpur, shot dead in New Karachi, Sector D-11. CCTV footage of the murder has surfaced showing three guys on two motorcycles firing at the victim in the jurisdiction of the New Karachi Police Station.
Shakeel has been named as the deceased. The matter is now being investigated by the police. The initial results suggest the motive could be personal hatred.
Two more were injured in separate instances. Further casualties Ghulam Abbas, 47, was fired at near Habib Bank roundabout in SITE area and taken to a local hospital.
