Khurram Shazad will not be playing in the remaining matches of the Test series against Australia due to an abdominal muscle tear and a stress fracture in his left tenth rib.

During the first Test, fast bowler Khurram Shahzad reported feeling uneasiness on his left side.

He won’t be able to play in either Melbourne or Sydney as scans revealed a fracture in his left tenth rib.

After speaking with an expert in Australia, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will establish a final management protocol for the player.

After that, he would go back to the NCA in Lahore to complete his recovery process.

“PCB will now consult a specialist in Australia after which a final management protocol will be established for the player,” a PCB statement said.

“He will then return to the NCA in Lahore where he will continue his injury management and rehabilitation.”

Pakistan face an uphill battle in the series, trailing 1-0 after a comprehensive defeat in Perth. Their quest to clinch a Test victory in Australia, unattained since 1995, confronts heightened challenges amid mounting injury concerns within their bowling unit.
