Kohat Police Lines attack: FIR launched against unknown terrorists
A complaint has been launched at Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station regarding the suicide attack at old Police Lines in Kohat with the FIR lodged against unknown terrorists, authorities said.
Police said the case was recorded on the complaint of the Station House Officer (SHO) Kohat City Police Station. The FIR has been registered involving charges of terrorism, murder, attempt to murder and other pertinent provisions.
The FIR says terrorists from Fitna al-Khawarij carried out a suicide attack at the Police Lines mosque using a truck filled with explosives and then opened fire.
The FIR alleged that the terrorists had entered the Police Lines while firing indiscriminately on the route leading to the mosque. The raid was carried out by terrorists who used gun and grenade strikes, causing deaths among the police and bystanders.
The personnel retaliated against the attackers, authorities added. Officers of Pakistan Army, police and CTD also visited the spot to lead the operation.
FIR states that 21 people had been slain, and a large number of others injured, due to suicide assault, gunfire and grenade strikes. The attack also caused damage to government and private property.
Police said efforts were underway to arrest the unknown terrorists engaged in the attack and their facilitators, while a further probe into the incident was underway.
