Lahore experiences heavy downpour, low-lying regions flooded
Lahore was hit by torrential rains throughout night, numerous low-lying districts were submerged and portions of the city were left without power when multiple feeders tripped.
The storm was part of a wider spate of heavy rain across the country. Rain was also reported in certain regions of Karachi including Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar, Mahmoodabad and Nazimabad. Light to moderate rain was also reported in Lyari, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Gadap, Guru Mandir, Jamshed Road, Baldia, Naval Colony and Mowach Goth.
Heavy monsoon rains caused over 100 feeders of K-Electric to trip and throw many parts of the city into darkness, reports said.
Nine people were killed and another 54 injured in rain-related accidents around the country in the past 24 hours, according to government data.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) claimed that 81 people perished and 241 others were injured in rain-related incidents from June 26 to July 23.
