LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday heard a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking permission to host a public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5, asking the authorities to inform whether an alternate location could be offered.

PTI leader Mian Usman Akram filed the petition, which was heard by Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf.

The government lawyer during the course of proceedings told the court that the application of the PTI for holding the demonstration at the Minar-e-Pakistan had been turned down.

The counsel of PTI said that the party should be granted an alternate site for the public meeting. The government lawyer told the court that no plea for an alternative location was submitted by PTI.

The court instructed the government counsel to take instructions from Deputy Commissioner Lahore for an alternate venue and submit the reply in the next hearing.
