Maryam Nawaz says tourism development may bolster Punjab economy, create jobs

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the state has huge tourism potential and promised to exploit the resources available for promotion of tourism and to showcase the historical, cultural and natural assets of Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz in her message on globe Tourism Day gave gratitude to individuals who are passionate about tourism and stated that travel inspires people to discover the globe and think about its wonders. Tourism helps to enhance inherent abilities, and encourages thought and reflection, she said.

Chief Minister stated that Pakistan was blessed with immense tourism attractions and Punjab’s historical, cultural and natural legacy had much appeal for tourists all over the globe.

She praised the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s decision to name Lahore as tourism and cultural capital this year, adding Punjab’s natural beauty-rich areas were no less attractive than wealthy countries.

Maryam Nawaz stated sustainable steps are being taken for promotion of religious tourism in Punjab. She claimed ancient forts, religious places and beautiful valleys were very appropriate for tourism.

She stated that during construction and expansion of highways including Murree Mall Road, Murree Glass Train will offer a new attraction for tourists. She further stated that Kotli Sattian was also developing as a new tourist attraction.

The Chief Minister said the government was committed to portraying the positive image of Pakistan abroad through tourism. Tourism development will help in building favourable opinion about the country and exhibit the beauty of the country to the globe’, she said.

She said among the aims of the government was to emphasise the historical, cultural and tourism assets of Punjab. She said that by increasing tourism, it will create new jobs and help the local economy.

Modern facilities and rebuilding were being used to make tourist locations across Punjab more attractive while sustainable efforts were being taken to introduce the province’s tourism spots at the world level, said Maryam Nawaz.

She added that tourism was providing economic chances to the young people and the local populations, adding that the sector could be an important milestone for the economy and culture of Punjab.
