Attaullah Tarar made these remarks when the minister was visited by Jiang Zaidong, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China.
Attaullah Tarar received congratulations from the Chinese Ambassador on taking over as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s new portfolio.
During the discussion, topics including the China-Pakistan Information Corridor, Pakistan-China strategic relations, and continued collaboration in the media and entertainment industry were covered.
In order to stop false information about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), talks were conducted about how to increase media cooperation between the two nations.
The minister stated that Pakistan placed a great priority on its ties with China and that friendship was an enduring link between the two nations.
According to Attaullah Tarar, during his visit to Pakistan as President in 1998, his grandpa, Muhammad Rafiq Tarar, hosted the Chinese Prime Minister at the time.
Generation after generation has witnessed the relationship between China and Pakistan. We need to teach the next generation about our long-standing and close connection,” he continued.
The minister declared, “We have to tell the next generation how China and Pakistan supported each other in difficult times.”
According to Tarar, China has backed Pakistan in all international forums, such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
He believed that the greater interest of the entire region lay in a tight and long-lasting collaboration between the two nations through the CPEC.
Tarar said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a significant turning point for Pakistan’s economic growth.
The minister stated, “The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a framework for regional connectivity that will have positive effects on Iran, Afghanistan, India, the Central Asian Republics, and the region, in addition to China and Pakistan.”
He claimed that because the China-Pakistan Information Corridor sought to use the potential of digital connectivity and information sharing, it would be a crucial strategic move in thwarting false information about the CPEC.
He also stated that the Ministry of Information will keep up its efforts in this area.
He claimed that making Pakistan an investor-friendly nation was Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s goal. During the summit, the two nations decided to increase their collaboration in the film and cultural industries.
Tarar informed the Chinese ambassador, “Pakistan is an ancient civilization with a history of seven thousand years, just like China.”
He said that the Indus Valley of Pakistan gave rise to numerous spiritual and cultural movements that influenced Asian culture.
He said that Buddhism was brought to most of East Asia, including China, by the ancient Gandhara civilization of Pakistan. He added that last year, China and Pakistan collaborated to host a Gandhara Buddhist exhibition at the Palace Museum.
Discussions about Pakistan and China’s progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals agenda were also covered during the summit.
Romina Khurshid Alam was in frequent communication with China on the SDGs initiative, according to Tarar.
The discussion also covered the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the third Belt and Road Forum between China Media Group (CMG) and the Associated Press of Pakistan, Pakistan’s official news agency.
The minister stated that negotiations between the governments of the two nations were also underway for a film production deal.
The agreement between APP and Xinhua News Agency, according to the ministry, is now being worked on.
The minister and the Chinese ambassador also talked about CGTN and PTV working together to produce a travel documentary.
