Orders to accelerate the fight against overbilling and electricity theft were issued by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday.
A zero-tolerance policy on overbilling will be implemented, the minister announced while presiding over a meeting at the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Lahore headquarters to assess progress on action against energy theft and overbilling.
By stating that punishment for carelessness will not be tolerated, Naqvi emphasized the necessity of unbiased action against officials who overcharge citizens.
Giving relief to electricity users who have been overcharged is the better option, he said.
In order to combat electricity theft, the minister gave the order to keep up the crackdown and instructed officials to target any government employee who is implicated in the theft of electricity.
