NA-168 Bahawalpur by-election today all ready

By-poll in NA-168 Bahawalpur will take place on Sunday (today). All preparations for the elections have been completed.

The seat was vacated with the death of PML-N MNA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Chanar. Malik Munir Iqbal Chanar of PML-N is contesting the by-election from his father’s vacated seat while Wali Dad Cheema, son of former federal minister Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema, is also in the field as an independent candidate.

There are 20 candidates in the fray for the election contest in the constituency. In NA-168, 483,143 registered voters including 248,529 male and 234,614 female voters will exercise their franchise.

The constituency has 292 polling stations, including 130 male, 130 female and 32 combination polling stations and 896 polling booths for the election.

“Strict security arrangements have also been established for the by-election. More than 3,000 police personnel will execute security tasks and one company each of Pakistan Army and Rangers will be in reserve.

Please be advised that voting will begin at 8 a.m. and will go on continuously till 5 p.m. Total population of NA-168 constituency is 937,095.
