The Federal Government filed intra-court appeals with the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the September 15, 2023, majority ruling that invalidated the National Accountability Ordinance modifications. The petitions were approved.
The majority decision was issued by a bigger bench that included Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Aminuddin, Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel, and Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa.
The reserved ruling was announced by Pakistan’s Chief Justice, Qazi Faez Isa.
The prior ruling by the two-member bench was overturned by the Supreme Court.
The founder of Pakistan, Tehreek-e-Insaf, was unable to demonstrate that the NAB modifications were illegal, the Apex Court noted in approving the intra-court petitions submitted by the Federal and Provincial Governments.
Respect for one another amongst constitutional institutions was said by Pakistan’s Chief Justice.
