Naqvi discusses regional circumstances, bilateral ties with Iranian pres.

On Monday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran.

During his official visit to Iran, Naqvi exchanged views with the Iranian president on the regional situation and avenues for enhancing Pakistan-Iran collaboration.

During the conference, President Pezeshkian said pressure by the United States has pushed Muslim countries closer together. He said both Iran and Pakistan might fulfilll some of their respective needs by better utilization of the economic and geopolitical potential of the region.

Pezeshkian said Pakistan was keen to expand cooperation with Iran in different fields like commerce, economy, politics, culture and science.

Earlier, Naqvi visited Iran’s Ministry of Interior and had talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. The talks centered on bilateral relations, recent regional developments and progress on the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in many sectors.

Momeni welcomed the efforts of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for the promotion of regional peace and stability. He appreciated Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace in the area and said his recent visit to Pakistan was very fruitful.

“Pakistan is committed to further strengthening the ties with Iran and we are confident that the bilateral relations will be further expanded in future,” Naqvi said.
