Today, Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Al Kharusi, the Sultanate of Oman’s ambassador, paid Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif a courtesy call at the Prime Minister’s House.

The Prime Minister immediately denounced the heinous terrorist attack on Imam Bargah Ali bin Abu Talib in the Wadi Kabir neighborhood of Muscat. The incident claimed the lives of six individuals, four of whom were Pakistanis, and injured over thirty others, almost all of whom were Pakistanis.

The prime minister acknowledged that Oman had responded quickly and cooperated with the Pakistan Mission in returning the dead remains and caring for the injured, but also pointed out that Pakistan had been a victim of terrorism for many years. He said that Oman needs Pakistan’s assistance in combating the threat of terrorism, which must be eradicated in all of its manifestations.

Throughout the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and reminisced about his phone discussions with the Sultan on Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha earlier in the year. The prime minister extended His Majesty’s invitation once more to come to Pakistan on an official visit as soon as it is convenient for him.

Regarding bilateral relations, the prime minister emphasized that Oman and Pakistan have strong, fraternal bonds based on a common history, religion, and culture. He conveyed Pakistan’s aim to enhance bilateral collaboration between the two nations, namely in the areas of commerce, investment, energy, and defense.

Regarding this, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for pushing for a trade and investment delegation to visit Pakistan the next week and assured him that the relevant authorities would fully cooperate with the delegation in their pursuit of win-win results.

The Ambassador sent the Sultan of Oman’s greetings to the Prime Minister and thanked him for having him. He reiterated the goal of his nation, which is to strengthen its commercial and investment ties with Pakistan.
