Tuesday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi declared, “One thing is very much clear: I will perform my duties in accordance with the law and the constitution.” For the PTI, there won’t be any NRO.
The PTI founding leader Imran Khan, who is currently serving a prison sentence for several convictions and bookings, as well as his party’s participation in May 9 events, was mentioned in the statement regarding NRO.
As evidenced by the incident on May 9 and his subsequent position, Imran is known for his strong style. It was earlier on Monday that reports suggested he may write a petition to the Supreme Court expressing his desire for talks to the appropriate parties.
However, Kundi stated to reporters on Tuesday that having discussions with the PTI would be a waste of time because the organization wasn’t even a political party.
He criticized the provincial government for increasing terrorism and performing poorly, stating that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was losing control of the province and that the [Provincial] Apex Committee had not met yet.
The governor noted that he didn’t think Gandapur could attack Islamabad, saying that one could only laugh at the statements made by Gandapur.
Answering a range of inquiries, he was discussing Gandapur’s persistent threats to lead a march to the federal capital if their demands are not fulfilled.
The chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kundi claims, is merely making these remarks to “keep his job,” and they would all be saddened if Kundi lost his job.
“I am fully aware of my constitutional authority,” Kundi declared, adding, “I know how to defend the Governor’s House [Peshawar] in a constitutional manner.”
Although he said Gandapur could travel anywhere in Pakistan, he acknowledged that the province’s law and order situation was getting worse every day, with individuals going missing and traveling in convoys through his hometown of Dera Ismail Khan.
Dera Ismail Khan native Kundi said, “At least address the state of affairs in your own district.”
Notably, the southern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are most severely affected by the decision made by the Imran-led PTI administration to permit TTP members to move, which has led to the resurgence of terrorism ever since.
