PERTH: Fast bowler Aamir Jamal became the 14th Pakistani cricketer on Friday to achieve a 5-wicket haul on his Test debut.

Aamir finished with 6 for 111— 6th-best bowling figures by a Pakistani player on debut — on day 2 of the Perth Test as Australia was bowled out for 487, moments after lunch.

Before Aamir Jamal, Arif Butt, Mohammad Nazir, Shahid Nazir, Mohammad Zahid, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, Yasir Arafat, Wahab Riaz, Tanvir Ahmed, Bilal Asif, Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed had also taken a five-wicket haul on their test debuts.

Aamir Jamal is also the only 2nd Pakistani after Arif Butt to achieve this feat on Australian soil.

Arif Butt had claimed this feat at Melbourne in 1964.

Match report

Australia were all out for 487 on the second day of the opening Test in Perth on Friday.

The hosts resumed on 346-5 after opener David Warner scored a defiant 164 on the opening day, with Mitchell Marsh on 16 and Alex Carey 15.

An untroubled Marsh looked destined for a fourth Test ton, but he was bowled by paceman Khurram Shahzad for 90 on the first ball after lunch.

Shahzad ended with 2-83, but fellow debutant Jamal stole the spotlight with 6-111.

Pakistan have never won a Test series in Australia and have failed to win a Test in the country since 1995.
