In a statement released on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of “Operation Swift Retort,” Inter Services Public Relations stated that February 27, 2019, was a historic day that showed the Pakistani people’s resolve and the military’s professionalism in confronting India’s unjustified aggression, which was driven by political and electoral concerns.
According to the statement, the events of that tragic day demonstrated the complete operational superiority of Pakistan’s Armed Forces over the Indian side, despite strenuous attempts by the Indians to positively influence the information environment.
It also stated that military professionals and analysts from all across the globe recognised the resoluteness and skill of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, thereby disproving baseless Indian accusations that could not withstand close examination.
Operation Quick Retort
Pakistan will never forget February 27, 2019, when the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down two Indian aircraft and, more importantly, captured one IAF pilot, shattering the Indian myth of military might and invincibility.
In the final week of February, Indian fighter planes breached the Line of Control, and the nation’s military declared that they had carried out a “surgical strike” in Pakistan’s Balakot region.
Additionally, New Delhi said that it had destroyed a terrorist base while inflicting 300–350 deaths. Pakistan refuted the allegation, claiming that neither a camp nor any casualties existed.
The Indian assertions were refuted by independent sources, which included high-resolution satellite pictures seen by Reuters.
A dogfight resulted in the downing of an Indian MiG-21 on the Pakistani side of the border, while Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighters crossed the LoC in a tit-for-tat incursion into Indian territory the other day.
