Pakistan Navy Day commemorates Operation Somnath
Pakistan Navy Day is being marked today (Tuesday) to pay honor to the heroes of the 1965 War who fought gallantly against a much stronger adversary with utter courage and sacrificed their life to defend homeland.
The day witnessed the bold Operation Somnath in which Pakistan Navy warships attacked important shore installations causing heavy damage to the Indian side.
In fact, the submarine PNSM Ghazi became a potent deterrence during the 1965 War, representing Pakistan’s operational superiority and increasing the cost for any enemy who entertained hostile designs against the motherland.
On Pakistan Navy Day the nation paid respect to the officers and personnel of Pakistan Navy for their role in preserving the country’s maritime frontiers, coastal security and national interests.
