Pakistan Navy raises four commodores to rear admiral
Commodore Tasawur Iqbal, Commodore Muhammad Umair, Commodore Shahid Wasif and Commodore Rao Ahmad Imran Anwar have been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral in the Pakistan Navy.
A Pakistan Navy spokeswoman said that Rear Admiral Tasawur Iqbal was commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1995. He is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, National Defence University, Islamabad and Inter Services Staff Course in France. He has held a number of command and staff appointments including Commanding Officer PNS Alamgir, Commander 25th Destroyer Squadron, Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy and Senior Pakistan Navy Officer in Riyadh. He is presently the Commander West and recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).
Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair was commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1996. He is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, National Defence University, Communication Command Course from China and Naval Staff College Course from United States. His command positions include PNS Quwwat, PNS Tariq, PNS Tabuk and Commander 14th Destroyer Squadron. He has also been Deputy Director Naval Operational Plans (Strategy) at Naval Headquarters and currently is Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, Karachi. He is the recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Rear Admiral Shahid Wasif was commissioned, and is a 1996 graduate of the Pakistan Navy War College and National Defence University. He attended the Defence and Strategic Studies Course in Australia and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Deakin University, finished the Advanced Command and Staff Course in the United Kingdom and a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from King’s College London. His postings include Commanding Officer PNS Saif, Deputy Director Naval Operational Plans (Strategy), Assistant Naval Secretary (Operations), Director Human Resources and Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff. He is currently the Commander 25th Destroyer Squadron and has also been granted the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).
Rear Admiral Rao Ahmad Imran Anwar was commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1996. He is an alumnus of Pakistan Navy War College, National Defence University and Advanced Command and Staff Course in United Kingdom and holds Master’s degree in Defence Studies from King’s College London. During his service he commanded PNS Zarrar, PNS Shamsheer, PNS Zulfiqar and 10th Patrol Craft Squadron. He has also held the appointments of Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Pakistan’s Naval Adviser in New Delhi and Deputy Commandant of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore. He is presently posted as Naval Secretary at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad and has been awarded with Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat.
