Pakistani prisoners in Sri Lanka, numbering 56, come home

The Pakistani nationals arrived at Lahore airport on a chartered jet from Sri Lanka.

Upon their arrival in Pakistan, the individuals commended the endeavors of Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Abdul Aleem Khan for facilitating their homecoming from Sri Lankan prisons.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has maintained communication with Sri Lankan officials for the past three months to enable the repatriation of Pakistanis.

Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan covered all expenses associated with the repatriation of Pakistani inmates from Sri Lanka.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has conveyed his appreciation to the Sri Lankan government and the High Commissioner for their assistance in this matter.

He also recognized Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan for financing the repatriation of the convicts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously informed the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights that 23,456 Pakistanis are incarcerated globally.

The officers informed the senators that a total of 23,456 Pakistanis are incarcerated globally, of which 15,587 have been convicted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that around 7,000 Pakistanis are now on trial in several nations, with their cases being adjudicated in the appropriate courts.
