PIA rebirth signals a new chapter in Pakistan’s economic reform journey: Prime Minister Shehbaz
“With a transformational investment to modernise and strengthen Pakistan International Airlines, we are laying the foundation of PIA’s revival and reinforcing investor confidence in Pakistan,” stated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
“Today marks another important milestone in Pakistan’s economic reform journey,” he stated in a post on X.
The prime minister said the successful first financial close of the PIA privatisation deal and the transfer of management authority to the investors’ consortium marked the beginning of a new chapter for the national airline.
Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the services of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and especially paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and his dedicated team, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Privatisation Commission and all those who with their professionalism, commitment and tireless efforts made this landmark achievement possible.
“Together, we will continue to undertake bold reforms to grow our economy, create opportunities for our people and ensure a more prosperous future for Pakistan,” the prime minister added.
