PM orders NDMA to expedite relief activities in flood-hit areas
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to make use of all available resources for relief and assistance to the people impacted by floods following heavy monsoon rains.
The prime minister issued the directions while chairing a meeting with NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik who updated him about the meteorological conditions in the country and the flood crisis caused by the recent monsoon spell.
Shehbaz Sharif directed the NDMA to coordinate closely and effectively with the provincial authorities and the Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) for the provision of immediate aid to the affected populations.
The prime minister complimented the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies at the National Emergencies Operations Center to monitor and respond to emergencies.
During the meeting, NDMA Chairman briefed the Prime Minister on relief activities in flood-hit areas and steps being taken for rehabilitation of the afflicted population.
He said assistance work would continue in flood-hit districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir with the help of the federal government.
