PM reaffirms solidarity with Saudi Arabia, flays Houthi attacks

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has denounced the attempted drone attack on the holy city of Makkah, saying the event has generated tremendous pain and indignation among Muslims across the world.

“We condemn the recent regrettable attacks carried out by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia in the strongest terms,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated in his statement on X.

The PM stated any threat to the peace, security and sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques is a red line that should not be crossed under any circumstances.


He added that Pakistan condemned the recent “deplorable attacks” by the Houthis against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and that Pakistan stood in complete solidarity with the Saudi people.

“No Muslim would even dare to think of committing such an abhorrent act,” Sharif remarked, stressing the importance of the sacred sites to Muslims around the world.

The prime minister also recalled his remarks at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which he said Pakistan had reiterated its support to Saudi Arabia and commitment to peace in the region.

He pointed to the historical Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, adding the alliance was not aimed at any state.

The pact reflects a commitment to defence, regional stability and peace, the prime minister said.
