PM Shehbaz condoles over loss of lives in Indonesia earthquake
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his sincere sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by the earthquake in Indonesia on Saturday.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, I extend my heartfelt condolences to President Prabowo Subianto, people of Indonesia and bereaved families,” he wrote in a post on X.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected and we pray for a speedy recovery for those injured.”
“Pakistan stands with the brotherly people of Indonesia in this hour of grief and wishes fortitude and resilience to all those facing this trying time,” he said.
At least 47 people were killed as rescuers searched thru wreckage for survivors Saturday after a huge earthquake slammed off Indonesia´s eastern Flores island, disaster officials said.
The national disaster management agency (BNPB) revised the dead toll late Saturday from the 7.7-magnitude quake to 40, with 50 people injured, rescue official Fathur Rahman said.
