PM Shehbaz expresses gratitude for Trump’s support for Makkah joint defense pact

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s statement of support on signing of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz said, “Deeply appreciate President Donald Trump’s kind words of support on signing of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.”

He said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey will continue to play a positive role in bolstering the defense of their nations and the wider region.

He said Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role along with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkiye Republic for securing the defense of our own countries as well as the whole region.

The prime minister also paid tribute to President Trump for what he called “courageous and decisive leadership” that saved millions of lives and prevented a nuclear disaster in South Asia.

He also stressed the need for lasting peace, saying that “Durable peace is the most essential prerequisite for a bright and prosperous future for our peoples.

Previously, Trump had lauded the joint defense pact recently struck by Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan as a significant move toward increased regional security cooperation.

“It shows how the Middle East is coming together and how Countries will finally be able to defend themselves in a more meaningful way,” he continued.

“Very happy to see that Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have recently and finally signed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement,” Trump tweeted on social media.
