He was presiding over a high-level meeting on the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and the Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package. Attendees in the meeting were Senator Ishaq Dar, Ahad Cheema, Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Romina Khursheed Alam, and high-ranking officials. A thorough briefing on the assistance package for Ramadan was provided to the PM.
Under the deal, more than 39.6 million families would get food items at discounted prices throughout Ramadan ul Mubarak.
Eighty-eight percent of the qualifying families would receive 19 edibles—flour, rice, lentils, ghee, cooking oil, sugar, sherbet, and milk—at less expensive than market prices as part of the Benazir Income Support Program. Thirty percent would be the rate of subsidy on these commodities, more than the rate of inflation.
For the 20 kilogram wheat bag and each kilogram of ghee, there would be a subsidy of Rs 77 per kilogram and Rs 70 per kilogram, respectively. Through 4775 utility stores throughout the nation, the Prime Minister’s Ramadan assistance package would be given to low-income households, with supplies continuing until the conclusion of Ramadan.
