In order to express condolences on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, PM Shehbaz Sharif will meet with Dr. Mohammad Mokhber, the acting president of Iran, and make a call to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Imam Khamenei.

In the Shiite ecclesiastical center of Qom and the city of Tabriz, tens of thousands of mourners dressed in black attended the funeral services for the late president and his entourage on Tuesday.

Following funeral ceremonies at the Imam Reza shrine, Raisi will be laid to rest on Thursday evening in his hometown of Mashhad, which is located in the northeast. The bodies will first be transported from Tehran to the province of South Khorasan.

After the group attended the opening of a dam project on the border with Azerbaijan, Raisi’s helicopter crashed on Sunday on a foggy hillside in northern Iran while traveling to Tabriz.

With assistance from Turkey, Russia, and the European Union, a massive search and rescue effort was started. Raisi passed away early on Monday, according to state television.
