Post-hajj flights start, first group of pilgrims returns
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started its post-hajj flight operation, bringing back the first group of Pakistani pilgrims from Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
A month-long operation will carry pilgrims from Saudi cities of Jeddah and Madinah to Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Multan, Sialkot and Quetta.
The airline announced in a statement that it has officially commenced its post-hajj business and the first flight PK742 arrived in Islamabad from Jeddah with 114 passengers. Chief Operating Officer Aftab Gilani and other officials greeted the pilgrims at Islamabad Airport.
The second flight, PK732, was planned to leave Jeddah for Lahore while the first post-hajj flight to Karachi, PK860, was slated to arrive from Jeddah on Sunday, said PIA. Operation post-Hajj will be extended till June 30
According to the airline, PIA would operate 213 flights in total and bring back over 53,000 pilgrims to Pakistan.
