Enhancing trade and economic cooperation among SCO members is vital to tackle various problems, as highlighted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Speaking at the SCO summit’s opening remarks, Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan is still dedicated to promoting regional peace, stability, improved connectivity, and sustainable socioeconomic development—a commitment he made when he took over as conference chair last year.
In his words, the joint statement “testifies to our commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth, improving connectivity, and implementing innovative strategies for green development.”
In his capacity as the head of the SCO, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that while Afghanistan offers a chance for trade and transportation, the Afghan government needs to be made aware that Afghan territory cannot be utilized for terrorist activities.
As a moral as well as an economic concern, he pushed the member states to develop programs to reduce poverty.
The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, made the argument for climate action by stating that it is a global existential problem.
In defiance of the fundamentals of international law, Shehbaz Sharif denounced unilateral coercive actions and protectionist policies.
He emphasized that one encouraging development to protect us from worldwide financial shocks is the growing agreement among member states to use mutual currencies for settlement.
The need to increase SCO’s effectiveness was stressed by him.
