PTI leaders blame Sohail Afridi for long march failure, sources say
Details surfacing from the party’s core committee meeting suggest that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) officials have held Sohail Afridi responsible for the failure of the party’s long march.
Sources within the party said the meeting addressed the failure of the long march, the lack of progress in negotiations and the party’s future political strategy.
A top central leader had faulted Afridi for not informing the party’s central and provincial leadership about plans for the long march, leading to discussion among participants, sources said.
While most of those attending blamed Mahmood Achakzai for the breakdown of the negotiations, there were different views during the meeting.
The members also talked about Afridi’s move from Mardan to the Chief Minister’s House.
But one leader questioned the move. A senior party official reportedly told the chief minister that he quit Mardan due to the low participation.
The case of Barrister Saif was also discussed in which a member of the core committee suggested that he should be granted an active role in the party again.
PTI has held another core committee meeting to examine its future strategy and to decide its next course of action, sources said.
