Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has emphasized the significance of public backing for the environmental protection objective of the province government.

During her presentation on World Environment Day, the chief minister emphasized the necessity of teamwork in tackling environmental issues and the need for individuals to unite in the fight to protect the environment.

With effect from Wednesday (today), Maryam said that the Punjabi government has imposed a complete prohibition on the usage, manufacturing, sale, and trade of plastic.

Maryam emphasized the need of minimizing pollution and encouraging environmentally friendly behaviors, citing their adverse effects on human health as well as the ecosystem.

The chief media representative emphasized the main goal of the “Say No to Plastic” campaign, which is to reduce environmental pollution and promote eco-friendly behaviors.

According to Maryam, there will be strict implementation of the prohibition, which forbids the use of plastic bags in lodging facilities, dining establishments, and retail stores. A deliberate effort will be made to promote paper bags and other environmentally friendly alternatives.

In order to inform the public about the negative impacts of plastic pollution and the significance of decreasing dependency on fossil fuels while expanding the use of renewable energy sources, the chief minister announced that a special awareness campaign would be launched.

Maryam spoke about deforestation as well, pointing out that it is a major factor in environmental deterioration. She emphasized the importance of working together to protect the environment’s natural beauty and lessen the negative consequences of pollution.

In order to emphasize how serious the situation was, Maryam pointed out that pollution was currently causing degradation on 40% of the planet’s surface. By 2050, three-quarters of the world’s population might be affected by drought, she warned, unless urgent action is taken.

The chief minister praised the aggressive steps taken by the Punjab government to protect the environment and urged people to show ambition in order to provide a sustainable future for future generations.
