Punjab permits schools to hold one-month summer camps.
Beginning on Monday (today), the Punjab School Education Department has permitted summer camps in both public and private schools throughout the province.
Summer programs will run from June 1 to June 30, according to a letter from the Education Department. Summer camps are only open Monday through Thursday from 7 to 10 a.m.; they are closed on Fridays.
All classes will be able to attend the summer camps, according to department officials, but attendance will not be required, and parental consent has been deemed necessary.
Private schools will not be permitted to charge extra for summer programs, the administration has made clear.
While the school administration makes sure that cold water, sanitary facilities, fans, and power backup are available, the letter mandates that all activities take place in classrooms and indoor spaces.
Officials also stated that pupils attending the summer camp will not be required to wear uniforms and instead be permitted to dress according to the weather.
Institutions that disobey government directives risk legal prosecution, according to the School Education Department.
