Punjab will see a monsoon season through July 13.

Punjab received monsoon rains on Friday, providing relief to the population from the severe summer heat, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted additional rains across the state until July 13.

Lahore received light to heavy rain and high winds overnight and the Met Office warned more rain was forecast in the province capital later in the day.

The weather department has expected intermittent rain in most areas of Punjab on Saturday. Rain will cool midday temperatures but humidity may continue.

The Met Office said: “On Friday, Lahore will see temperatures between a minimum of 26°C and maximum of 37°C.”

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to district administrations and directed them to remain prepared and take preventive steps against any potential rain related incident.

WASA has also separately mobilized its operational team around Lahore to make sure timely draining of rainfall from low-lying areas as the monsoon spell continues
