Sajid Iqbal wins LA-14 Bagh-1 seat, beats ex AJK PM Sardar Attique
According to unofficial initial election results, Sajid Iqbal of the Jammu & Kashmir Awami Dast-o-Bazu party has won from LA-14 Bagh-1 constituency in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Iqbal bagged 40,476 votes to defeat Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, a three-time former prime minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir who secured 19,234 votes.
Counting of votes at all the 214 polling stations in the constituency was completed and the unofficial results were announced.
The election was held in the third phase of polling in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, when voters cast their votes in four constituencies on Monday.
In LA-14 Bagh-1, Iqbal’s triumph is a decisive outcome according to the unofficial count, where he garnered more than twice the number of votes of his primary rival.
Unofficial results are subject to certification by election officials.
