Interior Minister Shaikh Rasheed on Friday briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan on the Peshawar blast and also talked about the security provided to the Australian cricket team touring Pakistan, sources told Geo News.

A statement shared by the ruling PTI on Twitter said that the interior minister and the PM reviewed the overall law and order and security situation of the country.

Sources told Geo News that the interior minister also briefed the premier on the suicide blast at a mosque in Peshawar that killed at least 57 worshipers and injured close to 200.

The blast had taken place at a mosque in Qissa Khwani bazaar in the Kocha Risaldar area of Peshawar.

Sources also shared that the interior minister briefed PM Imran on the security provided to the visiting Australian team.

Australia is in Pakistan for the first time in 24 years for a full tour, which could potentially lead to regular visits by top teams who have largely stayed away since a 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka team bus in Lahore.

Encouragement of Tourism in Punjab

One hundred and seventy tourism sites and trails across the Provinces have been recognised by Punjab Government for building, repairs and restoration.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a meeting to discuss on how to boost tourism in the Province.

It was declared in the conference that Punjab’s first travel app will soon be available and that the amazing software will provide virtual tours of 170 tourist sites.

Along with food panda and other services, the app will also provide hotel bookings and trip visits.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also authorised Punjab’s largest and most all-encompassing tourist strategy whereby Religious, Historical, Ancient Heritage, Antiquities and Ecotourism will be encouraged all across Punjab.

A tourist village would also be developed under the scheme so that visitors could experience proximity to historic civilisation.

District Mall Road, Walled City of Lahore, Sikh Site, Mughal Monuments of GT Road, Salt Range, Bhati Gate, Taxila Gate, Gujranwala, and Aimanabad Sikh Tourism Trails will be part of the tourist path.

Different cities’ tourist destinations will also grow as tourism clusters.

Multan’s Heritage Site Qila Kahna Qasim Bagh will be restored as a symbol of Indus Valley Civilization and Special Trail will be developed in Uch Sharif for the convenience of pilgrims.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also gave approval to establish Punjab’s First Tourism And Heritage Authority.

Chief Minister Punjab, who was leading the conference, declared that Punjab is setting the groundwork for worldwide tourism to flourish.

According to her, Taxla will become a fully tourist destination with a five-star hotel developed.

The government, according to the chief minister, is concentrated on encouraging tourism in Punjab where hubs for this activity would develop.

Emergency Services Centres Will Be Established Every 30 Kilometres Along Motorways: Aleem Khan

Federal Minister for Communications, Board of Investment, and Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan recently presided over a review meeting of the National Highway Authority, underscoring the necessity to improve safety protocols on the nation’s motorways and highways.

During the discussion, Minister Khan delineated the NHA’s dedication to safeguarding the safety of travellers traversing roadways throughout Pakistan.

He emphasised that all conceivable measures will be implemented to protect human lives, asking officials to adopt pragmatic actions to mitigate the causes of accidents on motorways.

The Minister instructed the Authority Officials to create emergency service centres at 30-kilometer intervals along the motorways, guaranteeing prompt and effective reaction times for accidents or emergencies.

He advocated for more stringent inspections, particularly in light of the recent bus accident on the M2 Motorway, which heightened safety concerns.

Minister Khan emphasised the necessity for aerial assistance, revealing intentions to deploy helicopters and air ambulances to facilitate emergency rescues on highways and motorways.

The Minister instructed the NHA to guarantee the presence of Rescue 1122 Stations and other critical emergency services along the routes.

In an effort to modernise infrastructure, Minister Khan advocated the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence to monitor new toll plazas, hence improving efficiency and safety.

He also suggested transferring weighing stations from the motorways to the connecting roads to alleviate congestion and enhance traffic flow.

The Minister underscored the necessity of transparency in the NHA’s yearly repair plan and advocated for the implementation of a coordinated strategy to optimise operations.

A report was submitted to Minister Khan concerning grievances related to safety barriers and potholes at multiple sites on the Motorways.
