Development Bank in Karachi today, under the direction of Mr. Hong Su Lee, an ADB urban development specialist.
The 2.1 million house reconstruction project for the victims of the rain and floods was discussed during the meeting.
The ADB team was informed by the Chief Minister of Sindh that although one lakh houses have been built, the Sindh government still needs more funding to build additional homes.
A 400 million dollar fund has been set aside by the Asian Development Bank to support the building of 2.5 lakh more homes.
The Chief Minister received assurances from the Asian Bank that $100 million will be made available for housing development.
Chief Secretary Dr. Fakhar Alam, Chairman P&D Shakeel Manganijo, Secretary to Chief Minister Rahim Sheikh, Finance Secretary Kazim Jatoi, CEO of People’s Housing Khalid Sheikh, and other participants accompanied the Chief Minister.
