Six-month Rawalpindi army deployment approved by federal govt

 The federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army personnel in Rawalpindi for six months under Article 245 of the Constitution to help maintain law and order and prevent any potential unrest.

According to an official notification, the Punjab Home Department had approached the Ministry of Interior seeking military assistance for security arrangements in the city.

The notification said three companies of the Pakistan Army would be deployed in Rawalpindi to assist the district administration with security duties.

The troops will support local authorities in maintaining peace and ensuring law and order during the deployment.

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent any possible disturbance in the city, according to the notification.
