The Sri Lanka national cricket team has formally confirmed its participation in a proposed tri-nation One Day International series to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board later this year.

Media reports indicate that the series will include the Pakistan national cricket team, Sri Lanka, and the England cricket team, serving as a competitive precursor to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.

Reports suggest that Sri Lanka Cricket has officially consented to participate in the event, while England’s involvement is also expected, with negotiations between the respective cricket boards underway to settle the timetable.

The tri-series is expected to occur between October and November this year, with Lahore and Karachi being considered as possible hosts for the matches.

Reports indicate that the Sri Lankan team may engage in supplementary limited-overs contests, including T20 games, prior to the ODI series. A Test series may be included in the overall tour agenda, contingent upon scheduling arrangements.

Cricket pundits assert that the proposed series will provide essential match practice and strategic preparation for all participating countries in advance of the upcoming World Cup, especially in subcontinental conditions.

Pakistan has previously conducted successful tri-nation series, and organisers are hopeful that the forthcoming event would bolster team preparations and elevate the nation’s stature as a host for international cricket.
