Staff members of the Senate and National Assembly now have new visa requirements.

The Foreign Office has instituted new standards for visa notes for the Senate and National Assembly Secretariat in response to the increasing trend of Pakistanis requesting political refuge outside.

Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister, approved these adjustments right away. They are meant to tighten up regulations on the visa issue procedure. Instantly following were the guidelines’ implementation.

The Senate and National Assembly have been notified of the decision by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Family members of National Assembly and Senate Secretariat officers are not permitted to submit letters of introduction for visa applications under the new policy. With this action, it should become less common for asylum applicants to misuse these kinds of documents.

For members of parliament (MPs) and their families who possess private passports, more stringent rules have been implemented. This will provide them more accountability because they can only get letters of introduction if they submit an affidavit.

Note verbale: issuing official diplomatic communication requesting visa facilitation will henceforth require a written application and letter for holders of diplomatic and official passports. In order to avoid any possible misuse, the Foreign Office stressed that written note verbales, introductory notes, and similar correspondence must adhere to policy norms.

As worries within the administration have grown, these actions are perceived as a proactive response to the growing trend of political asylum petitions.
