Speaker Khan attacked Dr. Arif Alvi’s handling of constitutional concerns, drawing a contrast with the former president’s term and mentioning his actions that resulted in the assembly’s dissolution.

In an interview with the media outside the Punjab Assembly prior to the presidential election, Speaker Khan expressed his confidence in Asif Ali Zardari’s ability to successfully negotiate the political terrain. “Asif Ali Zardari, once elected president, will handle affairs with understanding,” he said.

Thinking back on the previous administration, he denounced Arif Alvi’s term and called it “terrifying” because of purported constitutional infractions and the dissolution of the assembly. He emphasized that he had a duty to rise above party politics in order to save Alvi’s position, but he had not fulfilled it.

“The position of the former president required that he rise above the party, but he did not do so,” remarked the speaker, highlighting the expectation for impartiality and statesmanship in the presidential role.

Expressing optimism about the future under Zardari’s leadership, Khan asserted, “I am sure that the election of Asif Zardari will be a great success for the country and the nation.”

These comments come at a crucial juncture as the nation prepares for the presidential election, with Asif Ali Zardari emerging as a significant contender for the position. Amidst political discourse and speculation, Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan’s remarks shed light on the expectations and aspirations surrounding the upcoming presidency and its potential impact on the political landscape of the country.
