ISLAMABAD According to reports, the nationwide anti-polio programme that was launched in January “failed” to meet its objectives, as ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Details received by ARY News indicate that during the effort, approximately 2.1 million youngsters remained “unvaccinated,” shortening Pakistan’s aim by 5%.

During the initiative, 99 percent of youngsters in Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan breathed anti-polio drops, while Balochistan’s 98 percent vaccination target was met.

96% of children in Punjab and Azad Jammu & Kashmir received vaccinations against the debilitating polio virus.

918,260 children in Punjab, 54,163 in Sindh, 115,2387 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 60,588 children under the age of five who were not vaccinated during the anti-polio campaign, according to a breakdown of the provinces that was cited by sources.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister (PM), stated last week that the government is committed to preventing the poliovirus from harming any kid in the nation.

The prime minister made these statements in the Prime Minister Office (PMO) after receiving a visit from a delegation of Rotary International headed by Stephanie A. Urchik.

PM Kakar praised development partners, the international community, and Rotary International for their contributions to Pakistan’s polio eradication at the meeting. He was also grateful for the organization’s assistance in advancing other fields, such as education.
