The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene today in order to observe the Muharram moon.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene today to sight the new Islamic year, Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 Hijri. The meeting will be chaired by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad at Iqbal Hall of Badshahi Mosque, Lahore. The testimonies of moon sighting received from throughout the country will be evaluated.
Meanwhile, Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Islamabad will also have its meeting at Kohsar Block in Islamabad while sessions of zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees would be held simultaneously in different cities of the country.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the final statement about the sighting of Muharram-ul-Haram moon after reviewing reports from different parts of the country and findings of the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
According to the astronomical data of SUPARCO, the possibility of witnessing the moon of Muharram-ul-Haram on the evening of 15th June, 2026 is very remote. First day of Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 Hijri is anticipated to be on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
