President Asif Ali Zardari has given his approval to the Election (Amendment) Bill of 2024.
The Election Amendment Bill introduced changes to Section 140 of the Election Act 2017.
Following the modification, the appointment of a serving judge in the Election Tribunal will need consultation with the chief justice of the relevant high court.
The President granted an extension of approval for the law in accordance with article 75 of the constitution.
Following the President’s endorsement, the election bill has been enacted.
The National Assembly passed the Election Amendment Bill on June 28, and it was subsequently approved by the Senate on July 8.
