In an attempt to grow its marine operations, Gwadar Port carried out its first commercial bunkering (ship refueling) operation.

The Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), National Logistics Cell (NLC), Gwadar International Terminals Limited (GITL), and multinational energy company Vitol Asia worked together to carry out the operation between July 9 and July 11.

During the operation, 2,500 metric tonnes of very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) were supplied at Gwadar Port to the LNG carrier Enugu, which is jointly owned by the well-known businesses QatarEnergy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, and Vitol. The bunker barge Marine Ista was used to refuel the 285.4-meter-long ship.

Pakistan Customs, port authorities, and local shipping agent Pak Traders Gwadar were involved in ensuring the safe and efficient completion of the operation.

The operation expands the range of services available at Gwadar Port, which can now provide bunkering and other marine services to international vessels in addition to cargo handling.
