The Punjab government has declared a public holiday in the Lahore district on Monday, August 26, 2024, to commemorate the 981st Annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA).

The notification was also released by the Services and General Administration Department (Welfare Wing) on Tuesday.

This public holiday at the district level will be observed by all government offices in Lahore, with the exception of the Punjab Civil Secretariat, its Attached Departments, and Regional Offices.

The 981st Urs festivities of the esteemed saint Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (RA) will take place over a period of three days, from August 24th to August 26th.

The Auqaf Department has been granted a budget of Rs 13.5 million to make comprehensive plans for langar services for guests and other functions.

The Secretary of Auqaf provided a detailed explanation to the media about the plans for the Urs event on Wednesday. According to him, the urs will take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, from August 24 to 26, 2024, at his Astana. The Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, will officially inaugurate the event.

The secretary announced that the implementation of enhanced security measures will involve the installation of 144 security and closed-circuit cameras. Additionally, a separate control room will be established, and the police department will install 18 LCD screens to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
