Prior to Budget 2024-2025, the costs of solar panels in Pakistan have experienced a significant rise, as traders have modified their rates in anticipation of upcoming tax measures.

The budget is anticipated to be revealed by the federal government on June 12, in accordance with the requirements established by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as Pakistan engages in negotiations for a new bailout package.

According to sources, the government is considering implementing more taxes on solar panels, which has led traders to increase prices in advance. The rise, totaling Rs8 per watt, has been observed across different panel sizes and specifications.

Effective from June 2024, the updated costs for solar panels are as stated below:

1 Watt costs Rs8. A 588 Watt plate costs between Rs4,000 and Rs5,000. A 180 Watt panel costs Rs1,440.
Consumers who previously experienced an increase of approximately Rs3,000 to Rs4,000 for a 588-watt panel are now encountering a substantial surge in prices.

Smaller panels with power outputs ranging from 180 to 280 watts are now available at Rs1,000 to Rs1,500.
